Gingerbread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- boiling water - 1 c
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/2 c
- molasses - 1 c
- ginger - 1 tsp
- cloves - 1/8 tsp
How to make gingerbread:
Combine shortening, salt and spices. Add sugar gradually and cream until light. Add egg and beat thoroughly. Add molasses and blend. Sift flour with baking powder and soda; add to creamed mixture, blending well. Add boiling water and beat until smooth. Pour batter into a greased and floured 10 x 10 x 2-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 50 to 60 minutes until toothpick comes out clean from center. Serve warm with whipped cream.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, < 60 mins.
