Ingredients/Components

  • butter or margarine - 1 Tbsp
  • sliced almonds - 1/2 c
  • butter or margarine, melted - 1 Tbsp
  • chopped celery - 1 c
  • chopped onions - 2 Tbsp
  • crushed cornflakes - 1/2 c
  • salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
  • mayonnaise - 3/4 c
  • cooked rice
  • can sliced water chestnuts, drained - 1 oz
  • cubed cooked chicken - 2 c
  • can condensed cream of chicken soup undiluted - 1 3/4
  • sliced almonds optional - 1 item

How to make crunchy chicken casserole:

Saute celery in butter until tender; remove from heat and add next eight ingredients. Spoon into an ungreased 2 1/2-quart baking dish. Combine melted butter and cornflakes; sprinkle with almonds. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 30 minutes. Yield: 6
