Crunchy chicken casserole
Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 1 Tbsp
- sliced almonds - 1/2 c
- chopped onion - 2 Tbsp
- chopped celery - 1 c
- can cream of chicken soup - 1 3/4
- crushed cornflakes - 1/2 c
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- mayonnaise - 3/4 c
- cubed, cooked chicken - 2 c
- melted butter or margarine
- cooked rice
- can sliced water chestnuts, drained - 1 oz
How to make crunchy chicken casserole:
Topping:1 Tbsp. melted butter or margarine1/2 c. crushed cornflakes sliced almonds In a skillet, saute celery in butter until tender. Remove from the heat; add the next eight ingredients. Spoon into an ungreased 2 1/2-quart baking dish.Topping: Combine melted butter and cornflakes; sprinkle on top of casserole. Sprinkle with almonds, if desired.
Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 30 minutes. Yields 6 to 8 servings.
