Ingredients/Components

  • cornstarch - 1 item
  • water - 1 c
  • salt and pepper - 1 item
  • onions, chopped - 1 c
  • mushrooms - 1 c
  • celery, chopped - 1 c
  • green pepper optional - 1 item
  • pork - 1/2 lb
  • veal or beef - 1/2 lb
  • Bead molasses Chinese browning - 1 Tbsp
  • can Chinese mixed vegetables, rinsed 3 or 4 times - 1 item

How to make chop suey:

Cut meat in cubes; brown and add salt and pepper. Add celery, onions and green pepper. Cook until transparent; add water and molasses. Add mixed vegetables. When almost done, add mushrooms. Thicken with cornstarch. Serve on rice. Serves 4. Can be frozen. Cook rice when used.
