Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • vanilla - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour
  • water - 3/4 c
  • oil - 1/2 c
  • cocoa - 1/4 c
  • baking powder - 3 tsp
  • boiling water - 1/4 c
  • egg whites - 7 item
  • cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
  • unbeaten egg yolks - 5 item

How to make marble chiffon cake:

Boil 1/4 cup of water and add cocoa and 1/4 cup sugar. Stir until smooth, then cool.

Measure in a mixing bowl, flour, 1 1/2 cups of sugar, baking powder and salt. Make a well and add in order the oil, water, unbeaten egg yolks and vanilla. Beat until smooth.

In a separate bowl, put egg whites and cream of tartar. Beat until stiff. Pour egg yolk mixture over whites and fold in gently. Place half of the batter in another bowl and add cocoa mixture. Pour alternate layers into ungreased angel cake pan. Bake 55 minutes at 325°, then 350° for 10 to 15 minutes. Turn pan upside down to cool. Ice with chocolate frosting.
