Chop suey
Ingredients/Components
- cornstarch - 1 tsp
- soy sauce - 3 Tbsp
- medium onion - 1 item
- finely chopped ginger root - 1 tsp
- red bell pepper - 1 item
- cup chicken broth - 1/2 item
- boneles pork loin - 1/2 lb
- stalks celery or bok choy - 3 item
- cup fresh bean sprouts - 1 item
- 8-oz can sliced bamboo shoots, drained - 1 item
- 8-oz can sliced water chestnuts, drained - 1 item
How to make chop suey:
Heat 2 Tbsp. oil in wok, add: boneless pork loin, cut into long, thin strips, finely chopped ginger root. Cook and stir until meat is no longer pink (2 minutes) Set aside meat in bowl.Add to wok: onion, celery or bok chop, sliced into thin diagonal slices, bell pepper cut into strips. Cook and stir for 4 minutes.
Mix broth mixture: 1/2 cup chicken broth, soy sauce, cornstarch and pour into wok.
Add: fresh bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, and water chestnuts.
Bring to a boil, stirring until sauce is thickened. Add pork mixture.
Serve over rice, with chow mein noodles on top if desired.
