Chicken chow mein
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- cornstarch
- water - 1/4 c
- vegetable oil - 1/4 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- soy sauce - 1/4 c
- thinly sliced celery - 3 c
- chicken broth or water - 2 c
- can bean sprouts - 1 lb
- chow mein noodles - 1 item
- can water chestnuts - 1 oz
- sliced Chinese cabbage - 2 c
- sliced, cooked chicken, cut in thin slivers - 2 c
How to make chicken chow mein:
Heat oil, salt and pepper in deep skillet or wok. Add cabbage, celery, bean sprouts, water chestnuts and sugar. Stir in chicken broth; cook about 10 minutes.Mix cornstarch, water and soy sauce; add to vegetable mixture. Stir until mixture thickens. Add meat and heat thoroughly. Serve over hot chow mein noodles.
