Sweet and sour meatballs
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- water - 1/2 c
- oil - 1 Tbsp
- egg - 1 item
- vinegar - 2 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/3 tsp
- soy sauce - 2 Tbsp
- 4 oz - 1 lb
- ground beef - 1 lb
- onion, chopped - 1 item
- chow mein noodles
- chow mein noodles, chopped finely - 1/2 c
- to 1 1/2 green peppers, cut into 1-inch pieces - 1 item
How to make sweet and sour meatballs:
Combine beef, onion, crushed noodles, salt, pepper and egg. Mix and shape into balls. Brown in hot oil. Drain pineapple, reserving 1/2 cup syrup. Add sugar, cornstarch, soy sauce, vinegar, water and pineapple syrup to browned meatballs. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture boils and thickens. Add green peppers and pineapple. Cover and simmer 10 to 15 minutes. Serve over chow mein noodles. Can be served over hot rice as well.Recipe categories: Pineapple, Main dish, Ground beef.
