Chinese pepper steak
Ingredients/Components
- sirloin or round steak 1 inch thick
- vegetable oil - 1/4 c
- clove garlic, crushed - 1 item
- salt - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1 tsp
- ground ginger - 1 tsp
- large onions, sliced - 2 item
- beef bouillon - 1/2 c
- sugar - 1/2 tsp
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- large green peppers, sliced - 3 item
- soy sauce - 1/4 c
- can water chestnuts - 1 oz
- green onions, cut in 1-inch pieces - 4 item
- hot cooked rice - 1 item
How to make chinese pepper steak:
Place steak in freezer for about 1 hour. Remove and cut into 1/8-inch slices. Heat oil in skillet. Add garlic, salt, ginger and pepper. Saute until garlic is golden. Add steak slices and brown lightly; remove. Add green peppers and onion. Saute 3 minutes.Return beef to pan and add soy sauce, sugar, bouillon, water chestnuts and cornstarch, dissolved in cold water. Add green onions and simmer 2 minutes or until sauce thickens. Serve over hot rice. Serves 6 to 8.
