Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- cinnamon - 2 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- flour - 4 c
- cold water - 2 c
- baking soda - 2 tsp
- shortening - 1 c
- raisins - 3 c
- cloves I use 1/2 tsp - 1 tsp
How to make boiled cake:
Boil shortening, sugar, cold water and raisins for 10 minutes. Cool thoroughly. Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Add to cooled mixture. Mix thoroughly. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Use a cake tester for doneness. Bake in a well-greased and floured tube pan. One cup chopped nuts may be added.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Low fat.
