Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 Tbsp
- flour - 2 c
- cold water - 1 c
- soda - 1 Tbsp
- margarine - 1 c
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- seedless raisins - 1 c
- beaten eggs - 2 item
- chopped nuts and chopped mixed fruit if desired - 1/2 c
How to make boiled cake:
Boil sugar, cold water, margarine, raisins, salt, cloves, soda and cinnamon for 5 minutes. When cool, add beaten eggs, flour and chopped nuts and fruits. Bake in loaf pans that have been greased and floured. Bake 1 1/2 to 2 hours at 275°. Test at end of 1 1/2 hours.I usually put a shallow pan with 1/4-inch water in bottom of oven. This keeps cake moist.
