Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • stick margarine - 1/2 item
  • egg, slightly beaten - 1 item
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
  • mayonnaise - 1/2 c
  • cheese, grated - 1/2 c
  • squash - 1 lb
  • finely chopped bell pepper - 1/4 c
  • cheese cracker crumbs - 1 item
  • pecans, chopped or water chestnuts, sliced - 1/2 c

How to make squash casserole:

Cook squash, drain and mash. Add all ingredients except margarine and cracker crumbs. Place the ingredients in a buttered 2-quart casserole. Top with crumbs and dot with margarine. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes. (Suitable for freezing.)
