Shrimp creole
Ingredients/Components
- salt
- flour - 1/4 c
- hot water - 1 c
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- chopped green pepper - 1/4 c
- chopped parsley - 1/2 c
- rice - 2 c
- dash of cayenne pepper - 1 item
- whole bay leaves - 2 item
- lemon slice - 1 item
- melted fat or oil - 1/3 c
- chopped green onions and tops - 1/2 c
- small cloves garlic, chopped - 4 item
- crushed whole thyme - 1/2 tsp
- raw peeled and cleaned shrimp fresh or frozen - 1 lb
How to make shrimp creole:
Thaw frozen shrimp. Cut large shrimp in half. Blend flour into fat and brown, stirring constantly. Add water gradually and cook until thick and smooth, stirring constantly. Add remaining ingredients except rice. Cover and simmer 20 minutes. Remove bay leaves. Serve over cooked rice. Serves 6.Recipe categories: Seafood, Shellfish, Shrimp.
