Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • salt
  • oil - 3 Tbsp
  • garlic salt - 1 tsp
  • chili powder - 1 Tbsp
  • diced celery - 1/2 c
  • can tomatoes - 1 item
  • Worcestershire - 2 Tbsp
  • diced onions - 1/2 c
  • small can tomato paste - 1 item
  • Tabasco - 1 tsp
  • diced bell pepper - 1/2 c
  • large can tomato sauce - 1 item
  • raw, peeled shrimp - 2 lb

How to make shrimp creole:

Cook celery and onion in oil over low heat until tender in large pot. Then add tomatoes (mashed in blender), paste, sauce, sugar, chili powder, Worcestershire, Tabasco, salt and garlic salt. To this, add shrimp and bell pepper and simmer 45 minutes. When ready to serve, dissolve the cornstarch in water and add to thicken. Serve over rice. Makes about six servings.
