Scallops au gratin
Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 4 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- light cream - 1 c
- dash of pepper - 1 item
- medium onion - 1 item
- grated Cheddar cheese - 1/2 c
- small green pepper - 1 item
- ribs celery - 2 item
- scallops - 1 lb
- soft breadcrumbs
How to make scallops au gratin:
Preheat oven to 350°. Butter a 1-quart baking dish. In a medium saucepan, cover scallops with cold water; bring to a boil and drain as soon as water boils. Do not overcook. Melt 2 tablespoons of the butter and mix with the breadcrumbs. Set aside. Cut green pepper, onion and celery into chunks and saute in the remaining butter about 5 minutes. Layer scallops, vegetables and crumbs in the baking dish, making 2 layers of each, ending with crumbs. Season each layer with salt and pepper. Pour the cream over the top and bake 30 minutes.
