Swiss steak
Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- all-purpose flour - 3 Tbsp
- medium onion - 1 item
- small green pepper - 1 item
- beef bouillon - 2 c
- can peeled tomatoes - 1 oz
- steak or venison - 2 lb
How to make swiss steak:
Using mallet, pound flour into both sides of steak. Saute steak in butter in large skillet over high heat. Quickly brown both sides. Place steak in large pot. Arrange vegetables on steak. Add skillet drippings, consomme and seasonings. Simmer, tightly covered, for about 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. Serve over rice or broad noodles.
