- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- butter - 1 c
- water - 1 oz
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- vinegar - 1 tsp
- red food coloring - 1 oz
- Crisco shortening - 1/2 c
- whole eggs - 2 item
- cocoa heaping - 2 Tbsp
- Make paste of coloring and cocoa, then add mixture to cream
How to make red velvet cake:
Cream, sugar, eggs and shortening. Make paste of coloring and cocoa, then add mixture to cream. Add milk, alternating with flour and salt. Add vanilla. Add soda to vinegar, blend with other mixture. Bake 25 minutes at 350°.Icing:Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, American.
