Ingredients/Components
- sifted flour - 2 c
- sugar
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- vanilla
- vegetable shortening like Crisco - 1/2 c
- milk - 1 c
- eggs unbeaten - 2 item
- brown sugar
- cream or milk - 3 Tbsp
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- powdered sugar - 1 lb
How to make quick yellow cake:
Icing:3 Tbsp. brown sugar3 Tbsp. cream or milk1 Tbsp. butter1 lb. powdered sugar Sift the 2 cups flour, then sift flour, sugar and baking powder again. Add shortening and pour in 2/3 cup of the milk. Beat about 2 minutes or 150 strokes. Add eggs and rest of milk. Beat again until well blended. Pour in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan that has been greased and floured. Bake in a 350° oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool, then ice.Icing: Melt butter, sugar and cream in pan. Bring to boil, then remove pan from fire. Add powdered sugar until thick to spread. Put on cake. Serve with strawberries.
