How to make onion pie:

This is a great way to use shriner's Vidalia onions.

Crust: Melt butter (1/2 cup). Mix with crackers. Press around sides and bottom of 10-inch pie pan or 9-inch deep-dish pan.

Filling: In pan, melt 1/2 cup butter. Saut? 3 1/2 cups ringed onions until tender, light golden color. Place onions in pie shell. Scald milk. Add to milk the slightly beaten eggs and salt. Mix in Cheddar cheese or extra sharp (optional). Pour over onion rings and bake at 300° until golden brown on top, 45 minutes to 1 hour.

*Do not use margarine.
