Mexican beef pie
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- vegetable oil - 2 Tbsp
- chili powder - 1 Tbsp
- ground beef - 1 lb
- onion, chopped - 1/2 c
- black pepper - 1/4 tsp
- green pepper, chopped - 1/2 c
- sliced stuffed olives - 1/2 c
- can Spanish-style tomato sauce - 1 oz
- pastry for 9-inch, 2 crust pie
How to make mexican beef pie:
Line a 9-inch pie plate with 1/2 the pastry. Heat oil in skillet. Saute onion and green pepper 5 minutes. Add beef; cook until browned, stirring frequently. Add seasonings and tomato sauce. Cook over low heat 15 minutes. Let cool. Add olives. Turn mixture into pastry shell. Roll out remaining pastry. Cut into thin strips. Arrange over meat in lattice pattern. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes at 400° until pastry is well browned. Makes 6 servings.Recipe categories: Lunch/snacks, Main dish, One Dish meal.
