  • milk - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1 Tbsp
  • stick margarine - 1/2 item
  • butter - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 2 c
  • baking powder
  • egg, beaten - 1 item
  • cornmeal
  • chili powder - 1 Tbsp
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • can tomato soup - 1 item
  • black pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • green pepper, chopped - 1/2 c
  • large onion, chopped - 1 item
  • whole kernel corn - 1 c
  • can English peas - 1 item

How to make cornbread pie:

Topping:3/4 c. cornmeal1/2 tsp. salt1 1/2 tsp. baking powder1/2 c. milk1 Tbsp. flour1 Tbsp. salt1 egg, beaten1 Tbsp. butter Saute onion and green pepper in a skillet in 1/2 stick margarine. Remove and saute ground beef until brown. Combine the 2 mixtures and add soup, water, corn, peas and seasonings. Pour into a buttered casserole dish, filling the dish about 3/4 full. Cover with the topping.

Topping: Sift dry ingredients together and add beaten egg. Add milk and melted butter. Cover meat mixture with this topping. Bake about 20 minutes at 400° or until golden brown.
