Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- stick margarine - 1/2 item
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- water - 2 c
- baking powder
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- cornmeal
- chili powder - 1 Tbsp
- ground beef - 1 lb
- can tomato soup - 1 item
- black pepper - 1/2 tsp
- green pepper, chopped - 1/2 c
- large onion, chopped - 1 item
- whole kernel corn - 1 c
- can English peas - 1 item
How to make cornbread pie:
Topping:3/4 c. cornmeal1/2 tsp. salt1 1/2 tsp. baking powder1/2 c. milk1 Tbsp. flour1 Tbsp. salt1 egg, beaten1 Tbsp. butter Saute onion and green pepper in a skillet in 1/2 stick margarine. Remove and saute ground beef until brown. Combine the 2 mixtures and add soup, water, corn, peas and seasonings. Pour into a buttered casserole dish, filling the dish about 3/4 full. Cover with the topping.Topping: Sift dry ingredients together and add beaten egg. Add milk and melted butter. Cover meat mixture with this topping. Bake about 20 minutes at 400° or until golden brown.
