Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 c
  • margarine - 1/2 c
  • Crisco - 1/2 c
  • eggs, separated - 5 item
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • vanilla - 2 tsp
  • sifted flour - 2 c
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • coconut - 2 c
  • cream cheese, softened

How to make italian cream cake:

Icing:4 oz. cream cheese, softened1/4 c. margarine1/2 tsp. vanilla Cream sugar, margarine and Crisco. Add egg yolks, one at a time and beat. Add vanilla. Mix baking soda with the buttermilk and add along with dry ingredients. Beat well. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold in. Bake in a greased tube pan at 350° for 1 hour.

Icing: Combine cream cheese, margarine and vanilla. Beat until fluffy.
