Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 3 c
- stick margarine - 1 item
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk
- vegetable oil
- chopped walnuts - 1 c
- raisins - 1 c
- diced tart raw apples - 3 c
How to make fresh apple cake:
Sauce for Cake:1/2 c. buttermilk1 stick margarine1 c. sugar1 tsp. vanilla1/2 tsp. soda Dust apples, raisins and nuts with one cup flour; set aside. Blend oil, sugar and slightly beaten eggs. Sift together remaining flour, soda and salt. Add to egg mixture. Fold in coated apples, raisins and nuts. Turn into 10-inch tube pan and bake in 325° oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes.Sauce: Combine buttermilk, margarine, sugar, vanilla and soda. Boil rapidly for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour over cake while the cake is still hot. Leave in pan for several hours before removing.
