Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 2 c
  • salt - 1 item
  • eggs, beaten - 5 item
  • butter, melted - 1/2 c
  • paprika - 1 item
  • pepper - 1 item
  • parsley flakes - 1 item
  • Cheddar cheese, grated - 12 oz
  • sausage, browned and crumbled - 1 lb
  • slices torn bread with crusts - 12 item

How to make egg and cheese casserole:

Place alternate layers of bread, cheese and sausage in greased 9 x 12-inch (2-quart) baking dish. Beat eggs and milk; add salt and pepper. Pour over bread layers and refrigerate overnight.

Remove to room temperature. Before baking, pour 1/2 cup melted butter over layers; sprinkle with paprika and parsley flakes. Place pan in a pan of hot water and bake at 350° for 1 hour.

May also use bacon, ham, mushrooms, green peppers, etc.
