Ingredients/Components

  • butter - 3 Tbsp
  • peeled and chopped yellow onion - 3 Tbsp
  • flour - 3 Tbsp
  • hot milk - 2 c
  • dried chipped beef - 1/2 lb
  • paprika - 1/4 tsp
  • freshly ground black pepper to taste - 1 item
  • Tabasco sauce optional - 1 item
  • dry sherry - 1 Tbsp

How to make creamed chipped beef on toast:

In a heavy saucepan, melt the butter and saute the onion until clear. Stir in the flour with a whisk and the hot milk, stirring all the time, until the mixture thickens. When the mixture is thick, add the remaining ingredients; heat for a moment. Serve over toast. Makes 4 servings.
