Chow mein
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
- oil - 1 Tbsp
- soy sauce - 5 Tbsp
- fresh bean sprouts - 3 c
- fresh ginger, chopped - 1 Tbsp
- celery, sliced diagonally - 3 c
- onions, sliced lengthwise - 2 c
- pork, beef, chicken or shrimp, cut in thin slices - 1 lb
- mushrooms fresh or canned, drained - 3/4 c
- soup stock or bouillon - 3/4 c
How to make chow mein:
Cook rice. Prepare and have ready the first 5 ingredients. Combine in a small bowl the next 5 ingredients. Heat in large skillet the oil. Add meat; stir-fry just until done. Remove from heat. In another skillet, stir-fry in 1 tablespoon oil each vegetable just until slightly cooked. Add each vegetable to meat skillet after stir-frying. Just before serving, reheat meat mixture and add sauce. Cook just until sauce thickens and clears. Serve hot with rice.Recipe categories: < 60 mins, Time to make.
