Chow mein
Ingredients/Components
- cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
- water - 1 c
- soy sauce - 1/3 c
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- small onion, chopped - 1 item
- fat - 2 Tbsp
- beef, diced - 1 lb
- pork, diced - 1/2 lb
- large bunch celery in 1/2-inch slices - 1 item
- cans water chestnuts, drained and sliced - 2 to
- 2 can 2 1/2 c
- can broiled sliced mushrooms - 1 oz
How to make chow mein:
Brown meats in hot fat. Add soy sauce and 1 cup water. Simmer 2 minutes. Add celery and onions. Simmer 1 1/2 hours. Blend cornstarch and water. Stir into meat mixture. Add chestnuts, bean sprouts and mushrooms. Heat through. Season. Serve over rice or chow-mein noodles. Makes 8 servings.Recipe categories: < 60 mins, Time to make.
