• sugar - 3 Tbsp
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • water - 2 c
  • ground cloves - 1 tsp
  • sweet butter
  • walnuts, finely ground - 2 lb
  • filo - 1 lb
  • to 4 bread sticks, finely ground - 3 item

How to make baklava:

Syrup:1 1/2 c. sugar2 c. water Syrup: Bring to boil. Simmer for 15 minutes. Add a little lemon juice. Set aside to cool.

Mix walnuts, bread crumbs, cinnamon, cloves and sugar. Butter pan and layer eight sheets of filo, buttering each layer of filo. Place 1/3 of the walnut mixture evenly over filo. Layer three sheets of filo over mixture buttering each filo. Place the remaining 1/3 of mixture evenly over filo. Top with remaining layer of filo, buttering each filo and on top of last filo. Cut pan into individual pieces and bake 35 to 45 minutes. Pour cooled syrup over hot baklava after removing from oven.
