- boiling water - 1 c
- red wine vinegar
- peppercorns - 12 item
- bay leaves - 2 item
- whole cloves - 6 item
- onions, sliced - 2 item
- tsp salt - 2 item
- tsp sugar - 2 item
- Tbsp shortening - 2 item
- to 3 1/2 pounds venison chuck roast - 3 item
- juniper berries, if desired - 12 item
How to make venison sauerbraten:
Place venison in earthenware bowl or glass baking dish with onions, bay leaves, peppercorn, cloves, berries, salt, vinegar and boiling water. Cover tightly; refrigerate at least 3 days, turning meat twice a day. Never pierce meat when turning. Drain meRecipe categories: Main dish, Wild game, Deer.
