Ingredients/Components
- head cabbage, sliced - 1/2 item
- or 5 potatoes, sliced - 4 item
- or more large onions, sliced - 3 item
- tomatoes, chopped or 1 qt - 1 qt
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- bacon or pork drippings - 3 Tbsp
How to make vegetable soup:
Cover vegetables with water and boil gently for 1 1/2 hours or until tender. Add salt and seasonings. Add tomato juice. Simmer at least 30 minutes (longer if chopped tomatoes are used). Serve hot with crackers or cornbread.Recipe categories: < 4 hours, Weeknight, Soups & stews.
