Turkey flautas
Ingredients/Components
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- vegetable shortening - 1 Tbsp
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- chicken broth - 1/2 c
- ground turkey - 1 lb
- can chopped green chilies - 4 oz
- vegetable oil for deep frying - 1 item
- salt, pepper and garlic salt - 1 item
- flour tortillas small - 1 doz
How to make turkey flautas:
Brown turkey, onion and pepper in 1 tablespoon shortening. Add broth and cornstarch. Cook until thick. Place 1 heaping tablespoon of mixture on tortilla. Roll up and stick with toothpick. Toothpick will keep them from unrolling while deep frying. Deep fry until golden brown. Serve with picante sauce and sour cream.Note: For best results of rolling, heat shells in microwave for 1 minute.
