Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1/4 c
  • water - 2 c
  • vegetable oil - 1/4 c
  • medium tomatoes - 3 item
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • cayenne pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • seafood seasoning - 1 item
  • medium onions, chopped - 2 item
  • medium bell peppers, chopped - 2 item
  • raw, unpeeled shrimp - 2 lb

How to make shrimp creole:

Boil shrimp with the seafood seasoning to taste for 12 minutes. Let soak in same water for 1/2 hour. Peel shrimp.

Combine flour and oil in a heavy skillet and brown flour until dark brown, being careful to stir constantly to avoid scorching. Slowly add water to avoid lumps.

Bring to a boil. Add all ingredients, except shrimp. Simmer 20 minutes. Add shrimp and 2 teaspoons seafood seasoning. Simmer 10 minutes. Serve over white rice. Serves 6.
