Ingredients/Components

  • cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 1/2 c
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • small shrimp - 3/4 lb
  • uncooked rice long grain - 1 c
  • stalks celery, cut up - 2 item
  • green pepper, cut up - 1/2 item
  • spice - 1 tsp
  • green onion, cut up - 4 item
  • can tomatoes, stewed and cut up - 1 1/2
  • Islands original seasoning salt - 1 item

How to make shrimp creole:

Empty tomatoes into 2-quart saucepan. Add tomato sauce, 1/2 cup water, green pepper, celery and green onion. Cook covered on medium heat for 15 minutes. Add spices and seasoning and cook another 5 minutes. Add cornstarch to 1/2 cup water. Stir. Then stir into tomato mixture to thicken. Cook on low heat for 10 minutes.

Prepare rice in boiling water for 20 minutes. Drain and rinse in hot water. Keep hot in 250° oven. When sauce is thickened, add shrimp and heat 5 minutes. Serve in separate bowls. Serves 4.
