Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt
  • cornstarch - 2 tsp
  • shortening - 3 Tbsp
  • clove garlic, minced - 1 item
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • chopped celery - 1/2 c
  • chili powder - 1/2 1
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
  • frozen shelled shrimp, thawed - 12 oz
  • dash of bottled hot sauce - 1 item

How to make shrimp creole:

In skillet, cook onion, celery and garlic in shortening until tender. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder and hot sauce. Simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes. Mix cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water. Stir into sauce. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Add shrimp and green peppers. Cover. Simmer 5 minutes. Serve over rice. Makes 6 servings.
