Shrimp creole
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt
- cornstarch - 2 tsp
- shortening - 3 Tbsp
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- chopped celery - 1/2 c
- chili powder - 1/2 1
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
- frozen shelled shrimp, thawed - 12 oz
- dash of bottled hot sauce - 1 item
How to make shrimp creole:
In skillet, cook onion, celery and garlic in shortening until tender. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder and hot sauce. Simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes. Mix cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water. Stir into sauce. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Add shrimp and green peppers. Cover. Simmer 5 minutes. Serve over rice.
