Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 1/4 c
  • butter or margarine - 1 oz
  • oil - 3 Tbsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • hamburger meat
  • onion, finely chopped - 1 item
  • seasoning to taste - 1 item
  • large carrot, finely chopped - 1 item
  • mixed herbs - 1/2 tsp
  • potatoes, cooked and drained
  • sticks celery, finely chopped - 2 item
  • beef stock cube - 1 item
  • green onions shallots, chopped - 2 item

How to make shepherd's pie:

Heat oil in a large pan and saut meat, onions and carrot over a high heat until golden brown. Add crumbled stock cube, mixed herbs, seasoning, celery and green onions (shallots). Simmer for 5 minutes. Spoon into greased ovenproof casserole. Mash potatoes with butter and milk and spoon onto meat. Brush with lightly beaten egg and bake at 400° for 30 minutes. Serves 4 to 6.
