Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 5 Tbsp
- butter - 1 c
- cocoa - 2 Tbsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking soda - 2 tsp
- vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- powdered sugar - 1 c
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- 2 oz - 1/4 c
- flour all-purpose
How to make red velvet cake:
Icing:1 c. milk5 Tbsp. flour1 c. butter1 c. powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla Cream Crisco and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat 1 minute. Mix cocoa and food coloring. Add to Crisco and sugar. Add salt. Mix vanilla in buttermilk; add alternately with flour. Mix vinegar and soda, then add to mixture. Bake in 2 or 3 round cake pans at 350°. Bake 3 pans for 17 minutes; bake 2 pans for 20 minutes.Icing: Combine milk and flour. Cook over low heat until thick. Cool. Combine butter, sugar and vanilla; beat with flour mixture, a little at a time.
