Raisin crumb pie
Ingredients/Components
- raisins - 1 lb
- water
- sugar - 3 c
- flour - 2 c
- shortening - 1/4 c
- milk - 1 c
- eggs, well beaten - 2 item
- baking powder - 2 tsp
How to make raisin crumb pie:
In a saucepan, add cold water, 1 1/2 cups sugar and the raisins. Cook until raisins are plump and tender. Set aside to cool. Mix the flour, 1 1/2 cups sugar and shortening until crumbly. Take out 1 cup of the mixture and set aside for top.To the remaining crumb mixture, add the egg and milk; mix well. Stir in the baking powder. Put raisins in 2 (9-inch) unbaked pie shells. Pour batter over raisins and cover with crumbs. Bake in oven at 400° for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350° for 35 minutes more.
