Mom's custard pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- eggs - 4 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk
- salt - 1/4 c
- ground nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- 9-inch unbaked pie shell - 1 item
How to make mom's custard pie:
Line unpricked pie shell with a double thickness of heavy-duty foil. Bake at 450° for 8 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs just until combined. Blend in sugar, salt and vanilla. Stir in milk. Carefully pour into crust. Cover edges of pie with foil. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Remove foil; bake 15 to 20 minutes longer or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Store in the refrigerator.
