Ingredients/Components

  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • 1/2 cups sugar - 1 item
  • cup buttermilk - 1 item
  • cup Crisco - 1/2 item
  • 1/2 cups cake flour - 2 item
  • cup red food coloring - 1/4 item

How to make red velvet cake:

Mix food coloring and chocolate to make a paste. Cream Crisco and sugar. Add eggs. Mix. Add paste mixture. Sift dry ingredients together. Add buttermilk and vanilla. Mix real good. Bake 350 degrees 25 - 30 minutes or until done. Use three 8 inch pans.
