Ingredients/Components
- salt
- water - 3 qt
- salad oil - 1/4 c
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- chopped celery - 2 c
- large onions, chopped - 2 item
- diced, cooked ham - 3 c
- lentils, washed - 1 lb
- red hot pepper sauce - 1 tsp
- frozen spinach 10 oz - 1 pkg
- Polish sausage, cut into 1/2-inch pieces - 1/2 lb
How to make lentil soup:
Heat oil in a large pot. Brown garlic. Add ham, sausage and onion. Cook for 5 minutes. Add celery, lentils, water, salt and hot sauce. Bring to a boil. Cover and reduce heat to low and simmer 24 hours. Add chopped spinach. Cook 10 minutes. Makes 4 quarts.Recipe categories: Lunch/snacks, Soups & stews, Pork.
