Heavenly onion casserole
Ingredients/Components
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- soy sauce - 2 tsp
- can cream of mushroom soup - 1 item
- can evaporated milk - 1 oz
- fresh mushrooms, sliced - 8 oz
- sweet onions, sliced - 3 item
- or 4 oz - 1 c
- to 8 slices French bread - 6 item
- to 8 slices Swiss cheese - 6 item
How to make heavenly onion casserole:
In large skillet, melt butter over low heat. Saute onions and mushrooms until tender. Put this in 2-quart casserole dish. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top. Combine soup, milk and soy sauce. Pour this over cheese mixture. Top with bread and cheese slices. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight. Bake in 375° oven, loosely covered, for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 15 to 20 minutes more. Let stand 5 minutes before serving. Yields 6 to 8 servings.Recipe categories: Side dish, Casseroles, Onions.
