Onion casserole
Ingredients/Components
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- soy sauce - 2 tsp
- can evaporated milk - 1 oz
- fresh mushrooms, sliced - 8 oz
- cream of mushroom soup - 1 c
- medium sweet onions, sliced - 3 item
- shredded mixed Monterey Jack and Colby cheese - 1 c
- to 8 slices French bread, cut 1/2-inch thick - 6 item
- to 8 thin slices Swiss cheese - 6 item
How to make onion casserole:
In large skillet, melt butter over medium heat and saute onions and mushrooms until tender. Place in 2-quart casserole. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top. Combine soup, milk and soy sauce and pour over cheese. Place bread on top and top with slices of Swiss cheese. Cover and refrigerate 4 hours or overnight. Bake, loosely covered, at 375° for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 15 minutes more.Recipe categories: Eggs/dairy, Side dish, Casseroles.
