Spanish rice
Ingredients/Components
- Crisco shortening - 3 Tbsp
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- onion, chopped - 1/2 item
- rice - 1 c
- can tomatoes - 1 item
How to make spanish rice:
Brown rice and onion in hot Crisco. Add juice from tomatoes and water to equal 2 cups liquid. Chop tomatoes. Add to rice. Salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 15 to 20 minutes.Note: You may use chopped carrots for color, but just a little so it will not overpower flavor.
