Heavenly onion casserole
Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
- soy sauce - 2 tsp
- 4 oz - 1 c
- fresh mushrooms, sliced - 8 oz
- medium sweet Spanish onions, sliced - 3 item
- to 8 slices French bread 1/2-inch thick - 6 item
- can condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted - 1 item
How to make heavenly onion casserole:
Melt butter over medium high heat. Saute onions and mushrooms until tender. Place in 12 x 7 1/2 x 2-inch baking dish or 2-quart casserole. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top. Combine soup, milk and soy sauce. Pour over cheese. Top with bread and cheese slices. Cover and refrigerate 4 hours or overnight. Bake loosely covered for 30 minutes at 375°. Uncover and bake 15 to 20 minutes longer or until heated through. Let stand 5 minutes before serving. Yields 6 to 8 servings.Recipe categories: Side dish, Casseroles, Onions.
