Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- water - 1 c
- light corn syrup
- desired flavoring - 1 tsp
- food coloring if desired - 1 item
How to make hard candy:
Boil the first 3 ingredients together in a large heavy saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Boil, without stirring, until temperature reaches 310° on thermometer or until drops of syrup form hard and brittle threads in cold water. Remove from heat. Stir in the desired flavoring and food coloring if desired. Pour onto foil covered pan (about 18 x 24-inches) that has been sprinkled with powdered sugar. Cool thoroughly. Break into pieces.
