Ingredients/Components

  • eggs - 6 item
  • milk - 3 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • butter, melted - 1/2 c
  • dry mustard - 1/2 tsp
  • crushed corn flakes - 2 c
  • sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ham, cubed - 2 c
  • slices fresh white bread - 16 item
  • onions, mushrooms and green peppers optional - 1 item

How to make ham and cheese souffle:

Butter 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Lay 8 slices of bread on bottom of pan. Sprinkle cheese, ham and vegetables, if desired, over bread. Put 8 more slices on top. Beat together eggs, milk, salt and dry mustard. Pour over bread slices in pan. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.

Next day, bring to room temperature. Sprinkle crushed corn flakes over top and drip with melted butter. Bake at 350° for 1 hour. Keep covered with foil for the first 30 minutes.
