Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • salt
  • nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening - 3/4 c
  • unsifted flour - 2 c
  • molasses - 1/4 c
  • ginger
  • cloves - 1/2 tsp

How to make gingersnap cookies:

Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg and molasses. Sift flour, soda, salt and spices; add to creamed mixture. Roll in balls the size of a teaspoon; dip in sugar. Place on a cookie sheet, 3 inches apart. Bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes.
