Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- water - 3 Tbsp
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- soda - 2 tsp
- boiling water - 1 c
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/2 c
- powdered sugar
- molasses
- ginger - 2 tsp
- soft butter - 1 tsp
- cloves - 1 tsp
- lemon extract - 1 tsp
How to make soft ginger cookies:
Lemon Butter Icing For Ginger Cookies:2 c. powdered sugar1 tsp. soft butter1 tsp. lemon extract3 Tbsp. water Combine shortening, sugar, egg and molasses. Mix well. Add sifted dry ingredients, then water, stirring until smooth. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400° for 8 to 10 minutes. Frost while still warm.Icing: Mix all ingredients until smooth. Yield: 7 dozen.
