Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- cinnamon - 2 tsp
- eggs - 2 item
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- soda - 1 tsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- molasses - 1 c
- ginger - 1 tsp
- hot water - 1 c
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
How to make gingerbread:
Cream shortening. Gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Blend in molasses. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, soda, ginger, cinnamon and cloves. Add to creamed mixture alternately with hot water. Turn into well-greased 9-inch square pan. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, < 60 mins.
