French onion soup
Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- hot water - 4 c
- Worcestershire sauce - 1/2 tsp
- grated Parmesan cheese - 1/4 c
- large onions, thinly sliced - 3 item
- slices toasted French bread - 4 item
- instant beef bouillon or 6 bouillon cubes - 2 Tbsp
How to make french onion soup:
In large skillet or slow cooking pot with browning unit, cook onions in butter until lightly browned. In crock-pot, combine browned onions in butter with bouillon, water, Worcestershire sauce and salt. Cover and cook on low, 4 to 6 hours. Top each bowl with toasted French bread sprinkled with cheese. Makes 4 servings. Recipe may be doubled. Keep hot in slow cooking pot and serve from pot.Recipe categories: Soups & stews, Meat, French.
